MV Agusta Moto2 Racing Bike

Making a return to the Grand Prix Paddock in the Moto2 Championship is MV Agusta, after an absence of 42 years, where they will be joining forces with the Forward Racing team.

A prototype MV Agusta Moto2 race machine is currently under development. “MV Agusta is the most successful brand in history of motorcycling. The return of MV Agusta to the Grand Prix is a great honour for me” said Giovanni Castiglioni President of MV Agusta.

With 75 world titles, 38 rider and 37 manufacturer, from 1952 to 1974, makes MV Agusta the most successful European manufacturer.

For 2019 the Moto2 rule changes will see a 765cc Triumph three-cylinder engine replacing the 600cc Honda four-cylinder engine. The team will have a advantage as they are very experienced with triple cylinder engines from their supersport machines. The MV Moto2 will be using the Triumph 675cc motor with a slipper clutch from FCC and an exhaust from SC-Project.

The race bike will have a hybrid frame, which has a steel trellis design combined with an aluminum plate, as well as a aluminum swingarm, CNC’d into form with an integrated pressed sheet.

Suspension is by Öhlins, and the wheels are forged magnesium pieces from OZ Racing. According to MV Agusta the bike will have a 24° rake, 104mm of trail, a wheelbase of 1382mm, and a dry weight of 217kg (478 lbs) including the rider, as per Moto2 rules.
